The Sound of the 80s. Created by Tom Scholz (founder of Boston), the Scholz R&D Rockman is one of the most iconic pieces of guitar gear in music history — a compact headphone amp and effects processor famous for its Rockman clean and built-in chorus and echo. Used on Boston ("More Than a Feeling"), Def Leppard's Hysteria (where it appears on almost every guitar track), ZZ Top's Afterburner, Steve Stevens on Rebel Yell, plus Joe Satriani, Neal Schon (Journey), and Elliott Easton (The Cars).

Made with the rare Version 1 Rockman — the original used on the iconic 80s recordings. Later revisions (including the x100) don't sound like the original. Each switch position is captured both as a direct profile and as studio-treated versions recorded to analogue tape with LA-2A compression and Pultec EQ.
 
16 NDX profiles across the four switch positions (CLN1, CLN2, EDGE, DIST). Each position includes a direct capture, a studio-treated version, plus artist-inspired variants in the style of Bryan Adams' Run to You, Def Leppard's Hysteria and ZZ Top's Afterburner. 13 FX presets for Convology XT including authentic recreations of the original Rockman echo and chorus.
