What is NDX?

NAM was already the most accurate profiling solution available in terms of frequency content.

NDX (or Neutron dyNAMix) is Neutron Audio’s bespoke NAM training process—a combination of software, hardware, and our expert knowledge—to incorporate an additional, deeper layer of time-based dynamic realism. Simply put, NDX adds more dynamics to NAM profiles, hence the name "dyNAMix," or NDX for short.

The easiest way to hear this clearly in action is by exploring our compressor packs, where you will distinctly experience extreme, long-duration compression effects—something previously unattainable with standard NAM trainers or architectures. NDX embeds this enhanced information into every profile we create.

NDX authentically captures more complex effects such as:

These dynamic, time-based responses significantly influence how real gear feels and reacts, beyond just how it sounds in the frequency domain. Additionally, NDX reduces common aliasing artifacts, particularly noticeable in high-gain NAM profiles, by adding extra time-domain data. This minimizes frequency averaging, yielding more natural, realistic, and high-fidelity results.

Historically, achieving these dynamics required specialized architectures with higher CPU demands and limited compatibility. However, NDX encodes this extra time-based dynamic information directly into standard NAM profiles, ensuring compatibility with any plugin or hardware that natively supports full NAM profiles.
