The output stage of a 1978 Rose-Morris era Vox AC30 Top Boost — captured in isolation. A cathode-biased quad-EL84 push–pull design with no global negative feedback loop, central to the AC30's immediacy and harmonic character. Without global feedback tightening the response, the power section interacts more directly with the output transformer and speaker load — producing a fast, harmonically rich transition from clean headroom into compression and overdrive. The quad-EL84 configuration delivers strong upper-mid articulation and chime; cathode biasing introduces natural compression and dynamic sag as the amp is pushed. The Rose-Morris example retains AC30 immediacy and clarity while showing a slightly firmer low end and improved stability versus earlier JMI examples — moving from clean three-dimensional chime to harmonically complex power-stage saturation with exceptional touch sensitivity.
