For example, our All‑In‑One (AIO) profiles include a full studio chain featuring high‑quality preamps and compression. Importantly, we avoid applying pre‑EQ to our profiles, allowing users to tailor the sounds to their specific musical projects without destructive EQ baked in. This approach preserves the richness of harmonic and frequency content, ensuring that users can shape their tones by cutting away excess frequencies rather than resorting to extreme EQ boosts, which can degrade phase integrity and fidelity.
The 1957 Fender Tweed Deluxe 5E3 – NDX Pack
A Brief Biography
Few amplifiers have shaped the sound of recorded music as profoundly as the Fender 5E3 Tweed Deluxe. Introduced in the mid‑1950s and reaching its most celebrated form in 1957, the 5E3 was never intended to be a flagship amp — yet it became one of the most recorded, revered, and imitated circuits in history. Its touch‑responsive dynamics, rich harmonic bloom, and unfiltered rawness have been the secret ingredient behind countless legendary recordings.
Its appeal lies in its contradictions: tight yet loose, refined yet wild, articulate yet prone to glorious sonic chaos when pushed. These traits have made it a favourite across genres — from country to classic rock to blues.
Artists Known to Have Used the 5E3 Tweed Deluxe
Neil Young – The amp’s most famous champion. His signature singing sustain and snarling leads often came straight from a cranked Deluxe, sometimes aided by a Whizzer turning the knobs mid‑song.
Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) – Early ZZ Top tones dripped with the Deluxe’s chewy midrange grind.
Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones) – Studio work on tracks like Brown Sugar and Honky Tonk Women defined the Stones’ swaggering rhythm sound.
Joe Walsh (The Eagles) – Used the Deluxe for both rhythm and lead on Hotel California‑era sessions.
Larry Carlton – Cut Kid Charlemagne with Steely Dan using a Deluxe’s natural drive to complement his smooth phrasing.
Nashville session greats – From Bakersfield to Music Row, the 5E3’s touch‑sensitive cleans and “just‑breaking‑up” rhythms became staples of country tone.
From garage rock to outlaw country, the 5E3’s voice remains instantly recognisable and endlessly inspiring.
The Neutron Deluxe – A Faithful Resurrection
The Neutron Deluxe isn’t a reissue. It’s a resurrection.
Hand‑wired in 2024 by Tom Bradbury to the exact 1957 5E3 specification, this amp delivers the sound, feel, and behaviour of a brand‑new Tweed Deluxe as it rolled off Fender’s line in the ’50s.
Where many surviving originals are electrically unstable or tonally inconsistent due to ageing components — and where modern reissues are limited by contemporary manufacturing regulations — the Neutron Deluxe restores the real 5E3 experience: explosive, responsive, and alive under the fingers.
Matched with a 1×12 open‑back tweed cab loaded with a Jensen P12Q (exact to original spec), this pack captures that famed mid‑forward voice and blooming overdrive exactly as intended.
This isn’t a tribute. This is a time machine.

Reviews
I am still exploring creative possibilities with this pack, but there is no doubt in my mind that one of these models will end up being used in my default gigging preset. Feels like a tweed amp, plays like a tweed amp. I love these models.
Including models for various jumpered input combinations is a charming and interesting addition to this pack. That's an often-used feature of the 5E3. (and other classic Tweed amps). Something I have only read about, and never actually had a chance to try.
What can I say? This is the very best example of a Tweed amp recreation I have ever come across. Tweeds have been notoriously difficult to profile, always lacking in that complex, grainy breakup. Not any more, thanks to Neutron's meticulous work, and the NDX process. It's another perfect masterpiece from Neutron Audio (and do yourself a favour: Get the P12Q QS pack to go with it for the full experience). Thanks guys! :-)
These profiles are as good and authentic sounding as the AC-30 and the Mesa Dual rectifier in the NDX series! So many "tweed" sounds under your fingertips ( especially with the Jensen P12Q speaker profiles) ! As a Rev.Billy Gibbons, Joe Walsh and K.Richards fan like me this is heaven! Mix and match it with other speaker profiles from Neutron studios..or put the Corninsh TB 83 in front of it! Fantastic!
Amazing sound. I've been playing for hours and it sounds great. I can't wait to try the Twin Reverb version.
